International Workers' Day (May Day) is a national holiday celebrated in over 80 countries around the world, where working people unite and fight together. It falls on May 1st (in some countries, it falls on other times, such as the United States and Canada).

May Day International Labor Day is the result of the struggle and struggle of the working class. As capitalism enters the monopoly stage, workers are forced to perform a large amount of labor every day. In order to protect their rights, workers decide to fight. In 1886, 350000 workers in cities such as Chicago held a major strike and protest, demanding the implementation of an 8-hour workday and improved working conditions. Under international public opinion and social pressure, the US authorities announced the implementation of an 8-hour workday. In commemoration of this struggle, in July 1889, the Second International held a congress in Paris and established May 1st as International Labor Day.

The May Day International Labor Day is of great significance. Through struggle, workers have fought for their legitimate rights and interests with a tenacious and heroic spirit, which is a historic progress in human civilization and democracy. In order to celebrate the May Day, the CPC and the government commend the workers who have made outstanding contributions, and hold gatherings or cultural and sports activities. Internationally, some countries hold parades and demonstrations on May Day, while others have unique folk activities.  

On December 23, 1949, the State Council of the Central People's Government designated May Day as a commemorative and celebratory holiday, with one day off. Afterwards, the holiday time was continuously adjusted, and in 1999 it was adjusted to 7 days, forming the Golden Week. After 2008, the May Day holiday began to be reduced, and there were cases where 3, 4, and 5 days were allowed.

Starting from 2025, there will be a two-day holiday for Labor Day (May 1st and 2nd). The specific holiday schedule for International Labor Day in 2026 is from May 1st (Friday) to May 5th (Tuesday), with a total of 5 days off. I will be working on Saturday, May 9th.
