How to choose materials for solar photovoltaic brackets?

  • 2026-08-11 09:20:24
Photovoltaic brackets are the core skeleton of photovoltaic power plants, and the selection of materials directly affects the power plant's ability to resist wind and snow, service life, and maintenance costs in the later stage. Reasonable selection of materials based on project environment and installation scenarios can effectively reduce the long-term operational risks of the power plant.

Hot dip galvanized carbon steel bracket
Hot dip galvanized carbon steel (Q235/Q355) is the most commonly used material for ground power stations.
Advantages: High mechanical strength, strong wind and snow pressure resistance, high comprehensive cost-effectiveness, and a service life of 20-25 years in ordinary outdoor environments, suitable for large-scale ground photovoltaic projects.
Disadvantage: High self weight; Corrosion risk increases in coastal salt spray and chemical industrial areas; When steel and aluminum components come into contact, insulation gaskets must be installed to prevent electrochemical corrosion.
Applicable: Mountain and desert ground power stations, industrial and commercial rooftop photovoltaics.

aluminum alloy bracket
Commonly used models 6063-T5 and 6061-T6.
Advantages: Lightweight, able to reduce roof load; It has inherent anti-corrosion properties, requires minimal maintenance, and performs well in coastal salt spray environments.
Disadvantage: The material cost is higher than that of steel, and the mechanical strength under the same section is not as good as that of steel. In areas with heavy snow pressure, the profile specifications need to be increased, further raising the cost.
Applicable: Coastal projects, color steel tile roofs, household distributed photovoltaics. The mixed use scenario of steel and aluminum also requires good insulation isolation.

stainless steel material
Stainless steel is rarely used for support main beams and is mostly used for accessories.
Advantages: Outstanding rust and corrosion resistance.
Disadvantage: High cost, poor overall support economy.
Applicable: Grounding screws, bolts, washers, and other fasteners, as well as connection accessories for high corrosion environments.

Key points for quick selection
1. Inland mountainous and desert ground power stations: Priority is given to hot-dip galvanized carbon steel brackets, paired with 304 stainless steel grounding screws and fasteners.
2. High salt spray areas such as coastal areas and islands: prioritize aluminum alloy brackets; If steel brackets are selected, it is recommended to use zinc aluminum magnesium coating.
3. Chemical pollution industrial zone: Prioritize aluminum alloy or zinc aluminum magnesium steel, and avoid ordinary hot-dip galvanized carbon steel.

4. Insulation gaskets must be used at the contact positions of steel and aluminum components to prevent electrochemical corrosion.
