Arevon's 430 MW project has increased Missouri's solar capacity by nearly 50%

  • March 05, 2026
Arevon Energy, A renewable energy developer has started operating a 430 megawatt direct current (DC) Kelso solar project in Scott County, Missouri.

Arevon develops, builds, and will continue to own and operate the Kelso Solar project. This two-stage facility is Arevon's first utility scale project in Missouri, increasing the state's solar capacity by almost 50% and generating enough energy to supply over 62000 households annually.

During the construction period, the project employed over 450 personnel and is expected to incur over $62 million in property taxes throughout its lifecycle to support schools, infrastructure, and emergency responders.

Arevon held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday for the project's partners, Scott County leaders, local business owners, landowners, and community members to celebrate their joint efforts in bringing the facility online.

After years of responsible development and construction, I am pleased to see the Kelso Solar project, Arevon's first large-scale project in Missouri, begin generating electricity, "said Justin Johnson, interim CEO of Arevon. Kelso Solar reflects the close collaboration between Arevon, our partners, landowners in Scott County, and local leaders who have all played a crucial role in turning this project into a reality. We look forward to Kelso Solar serving the energy needs of the United States for decades. ”

During the development and construction process, Arevon collaborated with Primoris Services' renewable energy department, which was the construction contractor for the project, and donated $525000 to the Scott County Central School District for the construction of a solar powered bus shelter; Donated $300000 to Kenny Rogers Children's Center, a pediatric clinic that provides outpatient treatment facilities for children with special needs and helps build a new sports arena; We also donated $300000 to purchase new Chromebooks for students in the R-IV school district of Scott County, as well as an additional $145000 to support the district's safety initiatives and STEM projects, and other donations.

Arefon has always been an incredible supporter of our Kenny Rogers Children's Center and the entire Scott County community. As we prepare for our largest annual fundraising event - live streaming on television - we raise approximately $300000 each year to provide free physical, occupational, and speech therapy to local children, and their generosity is significant, "said Michelle Fay, Executive Director of Kenny Rogers Children's Center. I was shocked when Arifeng announced at the Kelso Solar Groundbreaking Ceremony that they would match our total TV live broadcast amount - in my 24 years at the center, this has never happened before

In the past few months, Arevon announced the start of operations for its Rats 1 and Heirloom solar projects, a 264 MW DC new domestic solar power project in Indiana, and continued to advance the 124 MW DC construction of the Big Muddy solar project in Illinois. In addition, Arevon represented local utility companies in developing and managing the construction of the 251 MW DC Gibson solar project and 228 MW DC Posey solar project in Indiana.
